Chapter One: Planting For Posterity

"A man doesn't plant a tree for himself. He plants it for posterity." `Alexander Smith

Hello! Welcome to the Avani Legacy! My name is Sarah. I've been simming since the very beginning when Sims 1 first came out. I was addicted immediately even though my children always ended up going to Military school because their helplessness and refusal to grow up annoyed me.

Anyway, I tried a couple of Legacies when Sims 2 came out but never got beyond Generation 3. So, this is a fresh attempt with Sims 3. Can I make it 10 generations? Heck, I may even go hog wild and make this an Alphabet Legacy!

Abra: "Ahem. Are you done talking about yourself now?"

Oh yes, this is my legacy founder, Abra Avani which (very) loosely translated means Mother Earth. Abra is a family oriented, hopeless romantic who is easily excited and loves the outdoors. She also has some natural cooking ability. She dreams of raising 5 children from baby to teenager. Can we do it? Yes, we can!

Abra just moved to Sunset Valley from her family farm in Riverview. She's excited for new adventures in the "big city"! She bought a giant lot overlooking the ocean but unfortunately that meant she didn't have much money to buy things like walls. It's okay though, our girl loves being outside!

Abra: "a stove and stuff would be nice though..."

But, I bought a grill ...that you can't use. Fail.

Time to get a job at the restuarant.
Abra: "But, I wanna work outside!"

Umm... I don't think you can. Besides, you will like this job because it involves cooking and you can cook.
Abra: "But, I don't have any cooking skill points"

Shuddup.

After Abra successfully got a job on the bottom rung of the cooking carrier I sent her to the park to scope out some men. She immediately walked up to this guy, Leighton Sekemoto.

Let me just say, I've only ever played with one premade before and it wasn't Leighton... so I had no idea what Leighton's back story was. If I had known then what I know now... well, who knows what I would have done but Abra and Leighton did get on together very well from the first moment and Lord knows I can't refuse my simmies :)

Abra and Leighton talked for countless sim hours and were able to become friends before Leighton rudely announced that he had to be somewhere and ran away.

Are you sure about this guy Abra?

Abra: "More sure than I've ever been about anything. He gives me tummy tumbles and butterflies! I sets my heart afire, he is the ying to my yang, the..."

All right, got it. Thanks. *barfs*

Abra spent the next few days stealing pic-i-nic baskets...

laying in bed reading about cooking...

...and talking to Leighton on the phone every chance she got. For some reason, the guy is always too busy to actually come over for some sweet, sweet romantic interactions.

Abra: "Oh, how do I love Leighton? Let me count the ways..."

But, you barely know him! You've never even kissed!

Abra: "Oh, kissing doesn't matter! I told you about the tummy tumbles didn't I? And the butterflies? I don't need to know him to know that my heart belongs with him."

Oh, okay. My bad...

The next day Abra managed to actually get Leighton to visit her home nearly empty lot. Aw... first kiss! :)
They immediately fell in love which I guess proves Abra right and means I have a lot to learn about true love.

Abra: "I know we haven't known each other very long but I also know that I love you more than I will ever love another Sim. Please marry me Leighton Sekemoto and make me the happiest woman on earth!"

Leighton: "uh...."

Leighton: "Oh! Sparkly! I can has!?"

Abra: "Yes, of course! As long as you say that you'll marry me!"

Leighton: "Yes! Of course! Yippeee!"

...and then Leighton ran off again. The dude's suspicious and I think he's hiding something... Abra however didn't seem to care as she ran around telling everyone about her engagement.

The next day, Abra invited Leighton to join her at the beach that sits below her lot.

Abra: "Oh, this will be a beautiful location for us to exchange our vows!"

As soon as Leighton showed up, Abra proposed immediate marriage. She can be a bit demanding when she's excited about something. It wasn't the fanciest of weddings but both the bride and groom had tears in their eyes as they said "I do".

But, as soon as the ceremony was over...

Leighton: "I really have to go. I'm so sorry my dear. I have to meet my mother... I, I'll be back soon and I will explain everything."

Abra watched him go with sadness and confusion apparent on her face. This was not the honeymoon she had planned. What was Leighton hiding from her?

...Stay tuned for the next chapter where will may just learn Leighton's secret! ;)
